As children grow, their
lives are marked by special milestones that are
celebrated by their parents, friends and families. At
St. James, we also mark our faith lives by special
“faith milestones” that we celebrate and lift up!
Baptism
(Child In Our Hands):
Baptism is a special time of celebration to recognize
all that God has done for us through his magnificent
grace. Parents are recognized as the primary faith
teachers of their children, and Godparents are given a
special role of assisting in passing faith along to the
child. St. James matches families with Congregational
Sponsors who members of our church, to encourage an
ongoing connection with our faith community. If you
would like more information on baptism, please call the
church office at 763-537-3653.
First
Communion:
Classes are offered to all ages during Lent each
year. Families explore the Old Testament, New Testament,
and how each of these parts of the Bible connects to
Communion in today's church. Families will celebrate
First Communion together at the Maundy Thursday evening
service, just prior to Easter.
* For 2014 First Communion, we are partnering with House
of Hope Lutheran. Both sessions will be held at House of
Hope Lutheran Church (4800 Boone Ave N, New Hope) on
Saturday, April 12 from 9am-12pm and again on Wednesday,
April 16 from 6-8pm. Cost is $5 per participant.

Third
Grade Bibles:
Part of the baptismal promise parents make is “placing
in their child's hands the Holy Scriptures." What a
wonderfully visible way of passing along faith! Each
September, third grade students receive a new Bible, and
spend time learning how to use it, how to find those
beloved Bible passages, and understand how the Bible is
still important to our lives today
