ComedySportz Newz
Media Coverage
Recently, your ComedySportz has received lots of local
media coverage.
Television :
We were recently featured on KXLY News 4 on Molly Allen's Mollywood Buzz.
In addition, KSPS (our local PBS station channel 7) did a feature on us
for Northwest Profiles,
which aired on February 24th. That episode will air again on
Sunday, March 27 at 3:30pm. Set your VCRs
and DVRs for that.
Newspaper :
The Spokane Kids newspaper (distributed through-out district 81) featured
ComedySportz and our ComedySportz for Kidz (CSz4Kidz) shows in a cover
article. The Spokesman-Review recently featured our ComedySportz High
School League at U-High in an article called
Make 'em Laugh. We are still waiting for the Spokesman-Review and
the Inlander to do another article on the ComedySportz professional team.
Neither has had an article covering us since we moved into our new theater
over a year ago and the Spokesman-Review hasn't had an article covering us
in nearly four years.

The Zoo™ in the Inlander
The Zoo™ comic strip has been picked up by The Inlander™ in Spokane. It will
officially be seen in print for the first time in a major weekly publication
on August 31st.
Gabe Strine (author of the Zoo, CSz player, and CSz graphic designer) would
like to thank all of the people who have shown continued support of his
little hobby with your letters to the editor and your very kind well
wishing. Your generosity has been very much appreciated.
For those of you outside the Spokane area, you can still read the Zoo at

updated every Friday.

"West
227 Riverside"
Sing it! You know the old jingle for Sylvan Furniture, which occupied that
space at West 227 Riverside for 58 years. Well, Sylvan has moved on to
another location, but the space at West 227
Riverside will soon be occupied by us, ComedySportz. It is an
exciting new location for us. Plenty of parking nearby and several
restaurants (including the Onion, Luigi's, and Chili's)
within a couple of blocks.
In a recent
article on the topic of our move, the Spokesman-Review said the
following:
Beginning early next year,
ComedySportz will relocate and become the first anchor tenant in
developer Rob Brewster's planned
Havermale Park complex, a $16 million residential and commercial
project within the block bounded by Riverside, Sprague, Browne and
Bernard.
ComedySportz will take up
1,400 square feet on the first floor of the Hale Building, former home of
Sylvan Furniture at 227 W. Riverside.... Brewster said ComedySportz will
eventually be one of three retail tenants on the first floor of the Hale
Building. He's hoping to attract a restaurant or bar or other retailer to
fill out that space. The two upper floors of that building will house
eight apartment units.
Eventually, Brewster said, [the
Havermale Park complex] will include 211 apartments, a large restaurant or
grocery store, and other tenants, such as a coffee house, architecture
firm or microbrew pub.
What might you expect in the new location:
-
Street-level windowed storefront;
-
Brand new and sparkling clean ADA-compliant bathrooms;
-
Plenty of free street-side parking nearby;
-
Several
restaurants (including the Onion, Luigi's, and Chili's)
within a couple of blocks;
-
One to two blocks from the main North-South arterial (Browne & Division)
through downtown;
-
Upgraded and updated food service;
-
Raised stage and theater lighting;
-
No stairs--so that those who have difficulty negotiating them can now come
see our show too;
-
Greater seating capacity;
-
Upgraded and updated sound system;
-
Of course, the same great family-friendly side-splitting entertainment that
you have come to expect from ComedySportz.
